Introduction
Credence Wire ("we," "us," or "our") operates credencewire.com and related products including WireStream, membership, newsletters, and audio/video programming. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you.
By using our site or services, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the services.
Information we collect
We collect information in three broad categories:
- Information you provide: email address, name, membership details, contact form messages, news tips, and correspondence with our newsroom.
- Automatic technical data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages viewed, referring URLs, and approximate location derived from IP.
- Payment data: membership transactions processed by third-party payment providers. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
How we use information
We use collected information to deliver and improve our journalism, operate membership accounts, respond to reader inquiries, send newsletters you opt into, detect abuse or fraud, and comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information to data brokers. We do not use reader emails to train third-party AI models.
Third-party services
We rely on infrastructure and service providers for hosting, email delivery, analytics, and payment processing (including Razorpay for certain membership payments). These providers process data under their own privacy terms and only as needed to perform services for us.
Our articles may link to external sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites.
Data retention
We retain account and correspondence records for as long as your membership or inquiry relationship is active, plus a reasonable period afterward for legal, accounting, and editorial record-keeping.
Server logs and analytics aggregates are retained for limited periods consistent with security and product improvement needs.
Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing.
To exercise these rights, contact privacy@credencewire.com. We will verify your request and respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
Children's privacy
Credence Wire is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
International transfers
We operate globally. Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including jurisdictions that may not provide the same level of data protection. We take reasonable steps to safeguard transfers consistent with this policy.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted on this page with a revised last-updated date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
