Nintendo released the 1.1.1 update for Splatoon Raiders on all platforms today. The patch is the first post launch update for the ink based shooter, and it focuses on competitive health, system stability, and player reported bugs.

Weapon balance changes

Version 1.1.1 adjusts the performance of several main weapons. The Splat Brella now deals more damage per pellet, which gives it a stronger close range presence. The developers reduced the ink consumption of the Heavy Splatling by 8 percent, letting players sustain fire for longer. The Goo Tuber now charges faster after a squid roll, making the weapon more viable for aggressive players.

The update also modifies some sub weapons. Burst Bomb now has a smaller hitbox, and Splat Bomb damage has been reduced from 220 to 200. Nintendo says these changes are meant to reduce the effectiveness of bomb spam in Ranked modes.

Special gauge and respawn adjustments

The patch changes how special gauges fill in Turf War and Anarchy Battle. Players now earn more gauge progress for painting the base during the final 30 seconds of a match. However, the Trizooka special requires 5 percent more gauge charge to activate. Nintendo says this makes the Trizooka less frequent while keeping its power level intact.

Respawn time after a splat now scales more consistently across all modes. In Tower Control, the penalty for dying with the tower lead has been reduced by 10 frames. The update also shortens respawn time after a super jump landing, but only when the player lands on a teammate's beacon.

Matchmaking and rank improvements

Splatoon Raiders 1.1.1 improves matchmaking for players in S+ and X Rank. The update widens the acceptable skill range during low population hours, which should reduce queue times. It also prevents players on a long win streak from matching against significantly lower ranked opponents. Nintendo added a new warning message when the server detects a connection issue during rank estimation.

League battles now use a separate internal rating for each player instead of a team average. This prevents a high rank player from carrying a lower rank teammate into inflated league placements. The update also fixes a bug that caused league results to sometimes display the wrong division after a disconnect.

Bug fixes and quality of life

The 1.1.1 patch fixes a long list of glitches. Ink splatters now appear correctly on floors after a player throws a Squid Beakon while being splatted. The game no longer softlocks when a player opens the map and presses the X button during a respawn countdown. Splashdown specials now deal damage to opponents on elevated platforms even when the visual effect clips through geometry.

Nintendo also fixed an exploit that let players skip the intro animation in Salmon Run. The exploit was found in the first week after launch, and it allowed players to enter the next wave early. The update closes that exploit by forcing a three second loading gate.

Additional stability improvements address network errors in the lobby. Players should no longer receive a communication error when the host changes settings while a friend is joining. The game now properly saves loadout presets after a system update.

What the patch means for players

The 1.1.1 update does not add new stages or gear. Nintendo says the patch is purely a balance and stability pass. The team will monitor win rates and player feedback after this update, and a larger patch is expected later this season.

Splatoon Raiders is available on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. The update is free for all players. You can read the full patch notes on Nintendo's support page or on the Splatoon Raiders news channel in game.
