iPhone 18 lineup leads the way

Apple will hold its annual iPhone-centric event in September, and expectations are high. According to multiple sources, including analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple plans to unveil four iPhone models: iPhone 18, iPhone 18 Pro, and iPhone 18 Pro Max, plus a new iPhone Air that replaces the mini form factor.

Kuo reports that the Pro models will feature a new A19 Pro chip built on a 2-nanometer process, offering significant performance and battery life improvements. The iPhone Air, first introduced last year, is expected to get a larger battery and an improved always-on display. All models are likely to include Apple Intelligence features, including a redesigned Siri that incorporates advancements from the company's recent AI research.

Apple Watch Series 12

Beyond the iPhone, Apple is expected to announce the Apple Watch Series 12. Gurman says the new watch will have a thinner design, a new health sensor for blood pressure monitoring, and a faster S10 chip. The high-end Ultra model, now in its third generation, may add an expanded low-light camera for scuba diving and outdoor activities.

The company is also working on a new budget Apple Watch SE, though it may not appear until later in the year. Analysts expect the Series 12 to launch with watchOS 26, which includes a rewritten fitness app and improved sleep tracking.

AirPods Pro 3 and audio upgrades

Apple's audio lineup is due for an update. The AirPods Pro 3, rumored to be announced in September, will include a new H3 chip that improves noise cancellation and adaptive audio. Kuo suggests that Apple will also introduce a new hearing health feature, allowing the earbuds to serve as clinical-grade hearing aids after a software update.

In addition, Apple may update the standard AirPods with a fresh design and move to USB-C charging for all models. A new HomePod mini with a faster processor is also possible, though that may be saved for a fall event.

Mac and iPad refreshes

While the September event is focused on iPhones, Apple often includes other devices. This year, we could see the first Macs with the M6 chip, according to Jeff Pu. The 14-inch MacBook Pro, in particular, is a candidate for a September release, but more likely these will debut in October with a separate event.

Apple also plans to refresh the iPad Pro with an OLED display and a new Magic Keyboard. Ross Young, a display analyst, says Apple has ordered panels for the 11-inch and 13-inch models, and the new iPad Pros could be introduced alongside the iPhone to showcase Apple Intelligence on a larger screen.

What else might appear?

There is always room for a surprise. Apple has been rumored to be working on an AirTag 2 with a built-in speaker and better range. The original AirTag launched over five years ago, so a replacement is due. Also, the company may finally release a new Apple TV set-top box with an A15 chip and a revamped remote.

One wild card is the Vision Pro headset. Apple's first spatial computer was released in 2024, and a second-generation model with a faster processor and lighter body is expected in 2027. However, some insiders say Apple could give us a first look at the updated visionOS at the September event, if not announce a developer kit.
